Mitsubishi Galant
It was positioned as 'the Individual 4-door' and it used the latest in automotive technology. It featured the Dynamic Four: 4WD (4-wheel drive); 4WS (4-wheel steering); 4IS (4-wheel independent suspension) and 4ABS (4-wheel ABS). It also had a new DOHC power plant. Two-wheel drive models were fitted with active Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) that ensured the body stayed horizontal to the road surface. It won the 1987-1988 Japan Car of the Year, and a rally car version won honours in the 1989 WRC 1000 Lakes Rally.
